Chai Oatmeal

Before I drifted off to sleep last night, I was thinking about oatmeal and how to make oatmeal taste good. For some reason Chai Tea popped into my head and I thought that actually sounded like it would be good. This morning I put together this Chai Oatmeal recipe and I have to say it’s pretty tasty.

I toasted the oats in some butter to give them a little deeper, nuttier flavor. I brewed the Chai tea separately and then poured it over the oats and finished cooking them in the microwave. When the oats were done cooking I mixed in some honey, topped with some fruit and had a delicious, healthy breakfast that kept me full for a long time.
What is Chai Tea?
Chai tea, also called Masala Chai is essentially a black tea made with warm, aromatic spices, milk and a sweetener.
For my version of Chai tea I used water, a black tea bag, my own Chai spice mix, vanilla extract and almond milk.
