Grand Cay Bahamas

Wow! October has turned out to be a very busy month with so many different places to go and people to see. I don’t mind so much, because I like to travel and it’s always nice to catch up with friends and family.
Last weekend my husband and I took a mini vacation to the Bahamas with some friends.
It’s a few hours to get from Florida to where we were staying in the Bahamas. We loaded up my friend’s boat and left bright and early Friday morning.  The morning clouds were absolutely beautiful: wispy, cottony and fluffy!

We started our trip in Jupiter, Florida. Here is a picture of the Jupiter Lighthouse as we were heading out in the morning.

The sun sparkling on the surface of the water and fluffy clouds made a picture perfect view to enjoy on our trek over to the Bahamas.

I’m not big on fish but I do like HogFish Snapper (pictured above). It’s a mild tasting fish in the Wrasse family. My husband cooked some of the fillets we brought back on the grill the other night by wrapping them in foil along with some seasonings, pepper and onions. It was so fresh and flavorful. The Bahamians like to cook it up with Old Bay, tomato paste, butter, thyme and other seasonings which is also tasty.
We spent the rest of our afternoon’s soaking up the sun, eating late lunches and relaxing at Double Breasted Cay; a beach/island with crystal clear water and a white sandy beach.

One afternoon our guide made us some fresh Conch salad. I forgot to snap a picture of the salad but I did get a picture of the beautiful Conch shells.

On our way back to Jupiter, we stopped in what we called the “glow zone”. It’s an area of water that is the prettiest aqua blue you have ever seen. This picture has not been edited, the water is really this color! We took a dip in the glow zone and enjoyed the beauty for a bit before heading back home.
